BACK TO PLAN A
“One of the great mistakes is to judge policies and programs By their intentions rather than their results.” Milton Friedman
Nature Centered Environmentalism is based upon the belief that nature has an intrinsic moral value that does not depend on its’ usefulness to human beings. More common among conservationists, it became the dominant school of thought on restoring planetary health.
The environmental movement had its roots at the dawning of the 20th century popularized by the pioneering works of the great naturalist John Muir and in collaboration with President Teddy Roosevelt who ushered in the Antiquities Act. Using this legislation multiple presidential administrations saved millions of acres of pristine wilderness were preserved and managed to benefit of future generations.
The first worldwide Earth Day was made possible by the support of the United Auto Workers Union in 1970, supercharging environmentalism to become an international movement. The was strong international support for this idea resulting in the formation of non-profits, the passage of sweeping legislation, and a collection of individual actions that produced tangible results that we all witnessed as we went about our daily lives. The experts could measure that the air and water were cleaner, as life returned to our rivers and waterways with the government and the media collectively celebrating our accomplishments.
Our education system taught children about the intrinsic value of nature and that each of us could participate in making a true difference, as we celebrated our early victories offering the hope of a cleaner, healthier planet for us all to enjoy. Combined with the simultaneous melting of racial and ethnic divisions, our country faced the future with an enviable degree of enthusiasm, pride, and optimism.

Human Centered Environmentalism views nature as a resource to be managed or exploited for human purposes. More popular among commercial interests.
Just as the world celebrated the first Earth Day a small group of policymakers and wealthy businessmen were promoting a change to a pessimistic and desperate outlook, based on a very different philosophy fostered outside of our county. They began to infiltrate our consciousness and permeated our society through an unaccountable group of policymakers who muffled the voices of environmentalism. They introduced a vision of doom and destruction that took over our government institutions and the press which has been promoted through our educational and media sectors resulting in a fatalistic, pessimistic, national image to the next generations.
They promoted The Green New Deal based on statistical computer models that have repeatedly failed to support their theory of large enough trends that would lead to world destruction. Through historic levels of subsidies our government has been convinced to mandate the construction of Alternative Energy (Alt-E) industrial complexes into some of our most pristine and valuable wilderness areas. Traditional environmental groups were forced to the sidelines and deprived of the funds they needed to fulfill their potential.
The government has placed huge pots of taxpayer dollars in subsidies to support their mandates and converted our innovators and entrepreneurs from supporting the desires of the American consumers (you) to chasing give aways of taxpayers’ (your) dollars. The goal was to decrease global CO2 concentrations.
Despite decades of activity and trillions of dollars, they have not stopped or even slowed the rise of global CO2. Fundamental mistakes have been driven by a selfish quest for political and financial gain which don’t benefit the people of any country nor improve the health and future of our planet.
Recently millions of acres of uninhabited lands have been proposed to be used for Alternative Energy solar installations and vast expanses of pristine coastal environments have been targeted for industrial wind installations.
Research has shown how much nature can do: forests, agricultural lands, grasslands and wetlands cost-effectively capture 11 billion metric tons of CO2 per year, a full third of the solution needed to stabilize our climate by 2030. 30% study There are abundant other currently available strategies to “re-nature” our planet that can be implemented by all people individually, as businesses and communities to restore the health of our planet and effectively maximize natural carbon capture. Nature Based Solutions Nature tech Energy strategies have failed to produce a positive effect on the environment at greater cost to families around the world. We need more nature and less heavy industry.
